On May 22, at 15:00 - 17:00, the following lecture will be held within the framework of the Folkloristic Discussions series of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography: "The New Original of the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of Sasun) Epic: Principles of Creation and Addressee". The lecture will be delivered by Hayk Hambardzumyan, Ph.D in Philology (Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts).

On May 6, 2025, at 13:30, a meeting will be held in the conference hall of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography with Rafik K. Simonyan, the sponsor of the publication of the fourth and fifth volumes of Yervand Lalayan's “Essays”.

On May 6 at 15:00, the presentation of the book War and Memory: The Problem of Commemorating the Second Artsakh War by the Department of Anthropology of Social Processes and Institutions of the NAS RA (authors: G. Atanesyan, M. Galstyan, G. Hakobyan, L. Angelush) will take place at the library of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the NAS RA (Yerevan, Charents Street 15).

The monograph explores the public and official processes of commemorating the Second Artsakh War, presenting examples of both formal and informal remembrance practices. It examines how the victims of the war are memorialized, the individuals and groups involved in the erection of monuments, and the motivations and goals behind their efforts.

Based on qualitative research conducted by the authors between 2021 and 2023, the book analyzes the installation of monuments commemorating the victims of the First and Second Artsakh Wars, the selection of memory spaces, and the role of various memorialization actors. It also highlights newly emerging virtual forms of both official and unofficial commemoration practices, as well as the challenges of the memory landscape in post-war everyday life.

This book may be of interest to specialists in the fields of humanities and Armenian studies, as well as to a broader readership.

The book was published within the framework of the scientific project 21T-6A136, funded by the Committee for Higher Education and Science.

We invite university lecturers, postgraduate students, and researchers to participate in the 28th Annual Conference of Gavar State University, which will be held on May 3–4, 2025 (starting at 11:00), in a hybrid online and in-person format.

Scientific reports must be submitted electronically by April 25, 2025, to the following GSU email addresses: info@gsu.am, infogsu@mail.ru. The working languages of the conference are Armenian, Russian, and English.

The conference will be held in the following fields of science: physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, engineering, ecology, agriculture, history, economics, philosophy, philology, law, pedagogy, psychology, political sciences, sociology, geography, geology, and geoecology.

The requirements for reports are:

1. The scientific report should be between 5 and 10 pages in Armenian, Russian, or English, computer-typed on B5 size paper, using the "GHEA Grapalat" font, with 1.12 line spacing, 18 mm margins on all sides, page numbers in the footer (centered), and margins set to 1 cm.
2. At the top, indicate the title in 10.5 pt font size (capital letters, bold). One line below the title, in the top right corner (10.5 pt), indicate the article's Universal Decimal Classification code (UDC, УДК — see the link: http://www.udcsummary.info/php/index.php?tag=1&lang=hy). Then, provide the author(s)’ last name and first name (bold), academic degree and title (capitalize, on a new line), followed by the position held (new line), the author's email address (one line below), and one line below that (leave one line blank), provide the report summary (аннотация, abstract) in 10.5 pt font size, italic and bold. The abstract should briefly present the subject of the study, the methods used, the main conclusions of the author(s), and any proposals of scientific novelty.
3. Leaving one line blank, write “Keywords” (bold) and list 5–6 keywords.
4. Leaving two lines blank, present the main body of the report in 10.5 pt font size. Citations should be included as computer references, with sequential numbering (from 1 to the final reference).
5. The main text should be followed by the “List of sources used.”
6. On the final page, the author must write: “The original material has not been published before,” followed by the author’s signature (and the signatures of any co-authors) and the day, month, and year of submission to the editorial board of the GSU scientific journal.
7. The submitted reports must follow a clear logical structure:
   a) An introduction, which justifies the relevance of the study, presents the main research goal, the theoretical and practical foundations, and the proposed hypothesis;
   b) The main part, which analyzes previous scientific publications on the topic, current approaches, the study conducted by the author(s), and their perspectives;
   c) A conclusion, which presents the research findings: conclusions, recommendations of theoretical and practical significance, solutions to the problem that demonstrate scientific novelty, the confirmed hypothesis, and any predictions.
8. At the end of the report, provide the following information in two languages other than the language of the article, using 10.5 pt font size: the article title, the author(s)’ last name, first name, academic degree and title, position held, email address, abstract (150–250 words), and keywords.
9. Latin and Greek letters, symbols, and formulas must be created using the "Microsoft Equation Editor 3.0" program. Explanations of figures and tables should be presented as images in 10.5 pt font size.
10. An opinion on the submitted scientific report or a recommendation from the relevant department or scientific organization must be submitted.

Reports that meet the requirements will be included in the GSU conference program. The conference materials will be published in the regular issue of the GSU scientific journal in electronic format.

On April 14, a scientific seminar on “Fieldwork for Qualitative Research: Challenges and Solutions (Linguistics, Ethnography, Social Sciences)” by Anahit Tonapetean, Foreign Member of the NAS RA, Professor at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations of France, Doctor of Philological Sciences, linguist, and Armenologist, will be held. The event is a wonderful opportunity for specialists, researchers, students, and those interested in linguistics to get acquainted with the latest scientific developments in the field.

On April 10 at 16:00, in the reading hall of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the NAS RA, the Architectural Modeling Research Group will hold its first seminar of 2025. Architect Lilit Ter-Minasyan will present a lecture titled “Architectural Parallels of Contemporary Buildings and Tomb Structures.”

On April 10 at 16:00, Arsen Harutyunyan will deliver a lecture titled “Tatev Monastery: The Vow of St. Eustatius the Apostle” at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of the NAS RA. The event is part of the IAE’s Medieval Studies Discussions seminar series.
